Frequently Asked Questions
Find answers to common questions about our stone, tile, concrete, and carpet maintenance and restoration services.
Do you charge for estimates?
Our estimates are free. In rare cases, specific circumstances might require a fee, but you'll always be informed beforehand.
How much dust will be created during the restoration of my floor?
We use diamond abrasives and water to restore natural stone surfaces. This process ensures no dust is created.
What is marble and natural stone restoration?
Restoration of stone involves bringing worn marble, travertine, granite, etc., back to its original condition or even better. It may also involve altering the stone’s surface to match the desired finish. For example, a polished finish can be changed to a honed finish and vice versa. Restoration techniques include polishing, honing, grinding (lippage removal), deep cleaning, sealing, and chip or crack repair.
What can I expect from professional stone restoration?
You can expect your stone to look like new again, with proper maintenance guidance for long-term care. Scratches, etch marks, and wear can be removed, and we’ll provide tips to help avoid future restoration needs. The specific results depend on your needs, and we’re happy to offer free estimates.
Our cleaning company spilled an acidic product on our sealed marble vanities, causing dull spots. How can this be repaired?
Your marble vanity tops don’t need to be replaced. Sealing protects against staining but not against etching, which is a surface issue caused by acids. Professional honing and polishing can restore the finish, making your vanities look as good or better than new.
My granite countertops aren’t shiny anymore. What should I do?
Usually, a filmy buildup from dish soap or improper cleaners causes dullness. Switching to a pH-neutral cleaner made for natural stone should fix this, although it may take a few cleanings. If the issue persists, professional restoration may be needed. Feel free to contact us for a consultation.
Why can’t I get rid of the water spots on my marble and travertine?
What you see are likely etch marks caused by acidic substances, not water spots. Etching can be polished out, but if the damage is too deep or widespread, professional honing and polishing will be necessary.
Is there routine maintenance I should perform on my stone floor?
Yes, regular maintenance is essential. Use a dry, untreated microfiber dust mop or vacuum daily to remove grit. Damp mop weekly or when spills occur. Make sure to clean your mop and replace the water frequently to avoid causing damage.
How can I bring back the shine my stone floors had when they were new?
If your floor isn’t deeply scratched, surface polishing might restore the shine. However, if there are deep scratches, a full restoration may be necessary. We offer free estimates and can advise you on the best solution.
Where can I find information about caring for my stone?
Visit our "Caring For It" page, where we offer downloadable guides and articles. For specific questions, you can always reach out through our contact form or call us at (661) 833-1168.
Will my entry rug damage my natural stone floor?
Rugs can protect your stone floor by catching dirt and grit, but use rug holders to prevent sliding, which could cause scratches. Avoid rugs with latex or rubber backings.
I spilled vinegar on my polished marble floor, leaving dull spots. Is this due to discoloration?
This sounds like etching, a chemical reaction between acid (vinegar) and the calcium in marble. Minor etching can be resolved with a polishing compound, but for deep or widespread damage, professional restoration is best. We can help restore your marble to its original condition.
My dog urinated on the carpet, and I cleaned it. How can I be sure all the urine is removed?
The only way to ensure the urine is fully removed is if the amount of cleaner used is equal to or greater than the urine deposited and fully extracted. Professional urine detection equipment can verify this. We offer free testing.
Is untreated pet urine harmful?
Yes, untreated urine can lead to harmful bacteria and germs that are unhealthy for your family. This is especially concerning for young children who often play or eat on the floor.
We’re considering putting our dog to sleep due to its urine problem. Are there other options?
Before making that decision, consult your veterinarian. If needed, we can set up a low-cost ongoing cleaning program until the issue is resolved.
How much does professional pet stain and odor removal cost?
The cost depends on the severity of the deposits and what cleaning products were used before we were called. Contact our office to schedule a free carpet audit.
I’ve tried everything to get rid of pet smells. What now?
